Take a moment to explore the true meaning of Christmas this season

Bryant Golden Blog

That’s right, folks. We’re going to have a “true meaning of Christmas” discussion. Now, don’t worry, we’re not here to attack your beliefs or challenge the way you celebrate the season. However, we do believe that having a relationship with Jesus is the most rewarding experience a person can have, and this season is the perfect time of the year to reflect on Him.

What is the true meaning of Christmas?

You’ll often hear during Christmas that “Jesus is the reason for the season.” While there is some merit to this, the meaning of Christmas deserves a bit more thought than patting yourself on the back because you remembered to say “Jesus.”

The real story of Christmas is that of God becoming a human. Through Jesus, God joined us on our level to walk in our shoes, feel our experiences, share in our pain and sorrow, and celebrate our joys. He died as one of us, completely untainted by the sin that takes a toll on the rest of us. Because of His sacrifice as a perfect human, Jesus was able to accept the cost of our sins on our behalf, inviting us to enjoy in eternal life with Him after we pass on from this life.

What a wonderful thing His story is! This is what Christmas is about. It’s the time of the year that we take a moment to reflect on the birth of this Savior. It’s the time of year to reflect on God’s incredible love for us:

“My beloved friends, let us continue to love each other since love comes from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and experiences a relationship with God. The person who refuses to love doesn’t know the first thing about God, because God is love — so you can’t know him if you don’t love. This is how God showed his love for us: God sent his only Son into the world so we might live through him. This is the kind of love we are talking about — not that we once upon a time loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to clear away our sins and the damage they’ve done to our relationship with God.”
